Q: What does walk like a woman mean to you?

Jenny: It means to walk while holding hands. It means you are never alone. In my personal and professional life, I am massively lucky to be surrounded by women who have guided, mentored, and given me a hand. Show up for other women and they will show up for you.

Jane: For me, to walk like a woman means to walk with confidence and grace.

Kelly: Walking like a woman is to be bold and have strength and confidence.

Q: How do you feel in a pair of heels?

Jenny: I feel strong. I feel seen. And that gives me the courage to face the unknown.

Jane: Powerful and sexy — two of the best things about being a woman! A woman’s shoe can really pull together an outfit and it’s so much fun to be able to tap into different looks.

Kelly: Like my best self.  Day-to-day, I am a fairly casual person, so it makes me feel instantly pulled together.

Q: What inspired you to start your own company?

Jenny: To be honest, the goal was never to start a company. For me, it was that cross intersection of opportunity meets preparation sprinkled with the universe having a plan for me. Is this getting too hippie-dippie?

Jane: In complete transparency, it was one of those ‘right place, right time’ type of situations. However, as I now look back on my career trajectory, perhaps subconsciously a lot of my career moves and decisions were leading up to this. What really inspired me was meeting the right business partners- working with Kelly and Jenny to build Foundation felt right and natural.

Kelly: I have always been incredibly independent and driven from a young age. But to be frank, I totally lack creativity and drive when doing it for someone else. I never would have been successful working for a large company – it’s too slow and there are too many people involved in the approval processes. I craved the ability to be able to work at a quick pace and build exactly what I wanted – everything from the physical and emotional environment in which I was working, to the clients I wanted to service and the team to surround myself with every day. It’s incredibly fulfilling coming to work now, and as a result, my work is far better than ever before.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about the beauty industry?

Jenny: Your lipstick probably costs $2 to make. Use oil on oily skin. And the real glow up is internal.

Kelly: How small it is – or at least it feels that way! I have re-crossed paths with so many past clients, co-workers, and more, which makes you feel a part of this really inspiring, creative club of people.

Q: What is your favorite part about working together?

Jenny: I am a big believer in NOT faking it, ’til you make it. And it’s really comforting to have partners you don’t have to fake it with.

Jane: I love that we are so different in how we think and work, yet we complement each other perfectly. Just like any other relationship, we aren’t perfect but we have immense respect for one another so at the end of the day, no matter how challenging the situation, we are able to appreciate and value that we are all working towards the same goals.

Kelly: We all have very different personalities, and along with that, comes different strengths and weaknesses. Collectively, we are stronger together and really balance each other.
