Q: What does “walk like a woman” mean to you?
A: To me, walk like a woman means walking (and talking and leading) with confidence. There is power and there is grace in being a woman, if you can harness that, you can do anything.

Q: What inspired you to start FEED?
A: When I was a college student at Princeton University, I had the opportunity to travel with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) as a student ambassador. It was on those travels that I witnessed the realities of hunger and poverty firsthand, as well as the effective and proven solutions that the WFP was putting into place, namely the school meal program. These trips were the catalyst for creating FEED, designed to be a tangible, wearable and shareable way for my peers to make a difference and engage with the fight against childhood hunger. To date, WFP is still our biggest on-the-ground giving partner.

Q: What are some easy ways you incorporate giving back in your everyday life?
A: Beyond working at FEED (to date, we’ve provided over 107 million school meals!), I volunteer as often as I can around the city, at local food pantries or soup kitchens, with friends and family, as well as with team FEED. As my two boys get older, I’m excited to involve them too and teach them about giving back. It’s truly a part of my everyday life and I want them to grow up with that same mentality.

Q: What’s your go-to shoe?
A: For summer, I love a shoe like the Sarah Flint espadrille that’s in our collab bundle. I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I received them! They are flat, but not at all uncomfortable and look great with my warm weather wardrobe.

Q: What challenges did you face as a young, female entrepreneur when you started FEED?
A: I started my company in 2007 in my very early twenties – Sarah Flint and I actually have this in common. It’s the only job I’ve ever had, which is both a blessing and a challenge. It is not always easy to have the confidence required of a young female entrepreneur. The biggest learning for me has been to trust, and follow, your gut and intuition. It’s your best asset, I think especially as a woman.
