The inspiration behind the Joy sandal, Joy Gathright is the office manager at Sarah Flint and is just as lovely as her name describes. Originally from Texas, she moved to New York City in 2019. Fun fact: she has never once had a cup of coffee.

Q: What is a key lesson you’ve learned from working at Sarah Flint?
A: A good idea can come from anywhere. We have a culture where everyone, no matter your department or position, can contribute ideas towards building the brand. I have seen some really great initiatives born out of statements like, “This may sound crazy, but…”.

Q: You’re always so efficient and organized—what are some of your organizational tips?
A: Why thank you! I keep two lists: My To-Do List and what I call my “Flowerbed.” My To-Do list logs everything that needs to get done today. My Flowerbed logs long-term tasks, as well as any creative ideas that pop up into my head. Flowerbeds are the foundation for beautiful blooms, and I like to view my projects and ideas as such.
Q: How do you plan to wear your namesake sandal?
A: It’s my new summer go-to. I love pairing it with flowy skirts and dresses.

Q: What’s your favorite summer activity?
A: I love lounging by the pool with sweet tea, home-cooked BBQ, and great music.
Q: Describe yourself in three words
A: Empathetic, whole-hearted, and intuitive.

Q: What’s your secret talent?
A: I can juggle. I’m definitely not a professional, but I can hold my own.
Q: What is your guilty pleasure IG account?
A: Too many to name, but @doyoulovethe2000s is top of mind. I grew up in the early 2000s, so it’s full of nostalgia.
