Elizabeth Durand Streisand, Co-founder & CEO of Broadway Roulette

Celebrity journalist turned CEO, Elizabeth Durand Streisand created an exciting new model to buy and sell theater tickets. By gamifying the process, she saw the opportunity to match a theater-goer’s preference with available tickets and times—and Broadway Roulette was born. In 2018, Broadway Roulette joined Morgan Stanley’s Multicultural Innovation Lab, an accelerator focused on female- and minority-led startups. Durand Streisand lives in New York with her husband, two children, and maltipoo.

What are three words people use to describe you?

Ambitious, creative, and loyal.

What is one of your favorite things in the world?

My maltipoo, Marilyn Monroe.

What is your favorite city to travel to?

Anywhere in Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast (i.e. Italian beaches and wine please).

What’s the best show on Broadway to see now?

There really is no “best” show to see because every Broadway show offers something special (which is why I started Broadway Roulette in the first place!). But at the moment, I’m really crushing on Diana: A True Musical Story. It tells the very heartfelt human story of Diana, Charles, and Camilla—and is both touching and timely. The way Diana reclaimed herself while being one of the most scrutinized women in the world is relevant to all women navigating the struggle to balance private and public lives in a world where the lines are blurred.

Name a novel that you recommend to all of your friends?

I just finished Long Bright River by Liz Moore and I’ve been telling anyone who will listen to read it.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Mac and cheese.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from your mom?

Don’t be afraid to start over. It sounds so simple, but it’s so easy to forget. It can be hard to imagine scrapping all the work you did on a project or all of the time you invested in a relationship, but sometimes the only way to move ahead is to start from zero. When you’re in a situation like that, the less time you waste getting the courage to start over, the more time you have to start building something better.

What is your ultimate power outfit?

High-waisted pants, a tucked-in top, pumps, and a fresh manicure.

Who is your favorite Old Hollywood movie star?

Marilyn Monroe! Hence, the dog’s name.

What’s your favorite type of flower?

Silk ones I can’t kill.
